San Francisco's Sunset District

  • 16th Avenue Tiled Steps: The 16th Avenue Mosaic Steps tell a story. You begin in the ocean, climb through the earth, ascend into the skies, pass the moon, and finish at the sun. When you get to the top, turn around for a panoramic view. The folks who live in The Golden Gate Heights neighborhood maintain the stairs. You’ll see their names on themed tiles as you climb. The steps are located on Moraga St. between 15th & 16th Ave. Parking is free.

  • The San Francisco Zoo: Honestly, I've never been here because I like the Oakland Zoo better. I’ve heard the pandas here are pretty cool though!

  • Fort Funston: We affectionately refer to this place as "The Dog Museum." For some reason, dog walkers frequent this park overlooking the ocean with some of the most expensive purebred dog breeds with ridiculous names. Go on a walk here to enjoy the scenery and hang with the fancy pooches. We also like sand dune jumping here.

  • Pacifica: This beach is slightly south of SF but it's a fantastic beginner's surfing beach. Rent a board and a 4/3 wetsuit (wetsuit is not optional because you will freeze without one) and try it out. When you're done surfing, find the wetsuit walk up Taco Bell ON the beach. You can order a chalupa with your feet in the sand. If that's not heaven, I don't know what is.
